I JUST WANT TO BE HAPPY!!

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. -Matthew 7:24-27

Today, ask just about anyone why they make the choices they make and their reasoning is..."I just want to be happy". The same reasoning is given from those who make such obscured choices in life such as homosexuality, drug use, abortion, and everything to have one's own way. They just want to be happy!

I believe there is not a clear understanding from many about their reasoning in life or purpose of "just being happy".

You see HAPPINESS is NOT a consistent guarantee! HAPPINESS is reliant upon one thing and that is depending upon whatever HAPPENS in your life! Something good HAPPENS, then you’re HAPPY, something bad, then you’re not happy. It is as easy as that.

However Jesus never said in His Word, "I come to make you HAPPY", nor did He say I come to make you miserable.

Jesus said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your JOY might be FULL!" - John 15:11

Joy and Happiness are two different things, but mistaken to mean the same!

Though there is nothing obviously wrong with being happy, when all for the right and true reason, JOY is more powerful, more promising than what only happiness can bring when received the natural way...from Jesus. Now a result of joy does bring about happiness, but a result of happiness again is dependant upon the winds of happenings that come blowing your way.

Since there is a possibility of being either happy or unhappy, when it comes to having JOY you either have it or you don't. If something bad happens, one can not say they are "unjoyed". Because Joy in it's organic and divine form is only one way and that is upward!

So what does building your house on a rock or sand have to do with being happy or joyful? Well try putting yourself in the shoes of either the foolish or wise man. The foolish man obviously wouldn't be happy because his house fell greatly, unlike the wise man whose house stood and has nothing really to be sad about, except for feeling sorry for the foolish man who chose an unpromising foundation to build his house, house investment, his life upon!

Both the wise and foolish man experienced the SAME storms, but each had a different outcome!

Whether saved by Jesus' grace or not we all experience the same winds of life circumstances, but depending upon whether we are saved or not will produced a different outcome of life!

Now I am not speaking about a different outcome of destination in life after death; but mostly about life NOW as we know it!

Many of us can and will experience hardships, which are inevitable and many say…”well that’s life!” But I got good news for you my friend, that doesn’t have to be your life! Your life can have a different outcome!!!

I believe the wind blows stronger against the life of a born again Christian, than those who still live enticed by Satan and carnality, all because of their type of foundation. Not only is their foundation upon Jesus, but it is upon JOY unspeakable!

1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

God is a spirit and can not be seen by the naked eye in this life, but only through the person of Jesus Christ, who is God manifested. (John 1 &1 Tim. 3:16)

It is like the wind (which Jesus refers to as well), you can not technically see the wind in its form but you can see the affect wind brings and has on other things. You can even hear the wind, depending on how strong it is and how you listen to it.

God does “allow” the winds of circumstance to happen. Whether good or bad, they don’t go over His head unnoticed.

Sometimes people, especially who don’t know Him, blame God for a lot of the crises going on in the world. Now for the wise man, who invests his whole life to be established upon the sure foundation of Jesus sorrows for the winds of violence and crises, but they themselves won’t be shaken by such dilemma because they stand upon better promises and a greater spirit of joy in Christ!

Now what is the point of all this?

One can think that their purpose in life is to just be happy, but that reason alone is as a foolish man who invests upon an uncertain foundation. No one can predict the happenings or winds of life. To say one just wants to be happy is to say that one is relying upon life’s uncertainty and willing to live going up and down constantly!

What can Joy promise? Joy not only promises, but guarantees stability and focus through thick and thing. When we hold on to joy, we don’t have to fear and our life will not fall apart!

No matter what life brings, JOY is what keep you standing and this JOY only comes from Jesus Christ! Joy doesn’t mean one is void from experiencing hardships, but it does mean that that one will remain standing, even through the fires…rejoicing, because sin and death has nothing upon the life whose joy has been made full, by being fully reliant and standing upon the ROCK of their salvation in Christ!

Happiness comes at an uncertain price, but unspeakable joy comes freely, as Jesus paid the price for us! He paid the price of what He is possesses and if one will receive Jesus, they will receive Joy!

Your life doesn’t have to fall apart and you don’t have to be shaken by uncertainty. Let Christ build your life upon His word and do all to stand by the power of His might and your inherited joy!

God bless!
