MANY WIVES AND NOT ENOUGH SONS

II Samuel 18:18 Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom's place.
To my fellow reader and follower in the faith, I write to you as a son in the faith. The Lord really quickened this simple truth that I carry in my heart and I feel the need to share this with others, especially those in ministries within the church.
It is mentioned well over 500 times in the King James Bible of the word father’s (plural). The Bible brings great importance to this truth within the ministry of the Gospel. We are all familiar with the verse I Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Well as true as that is today on a majority level, I would like to simply state that today in the majority of the churches of America today there are too many wives and not enough sons! This is the result to I Corinthians 4:15.
It is true that every one of us could relate in some way or another to the life of David. Perhaps his life, as an Old Testament participant, has been the most preached and viewed life that we know. We get encouraged by David’s life, through his process' and victories he went through and gained. We also keep note of the “major” sin he committed by engaging in adultery. But one thing I want us to consider is his life as a parent.
King David was surely blessed. He was a man after God’s heart! He was submitted to Saul and even when David was on the run he noted Saul as a father to him. Samuel wasn’t so much David’s mentor, but it was Saul, Saul mentored David in the things what NOT to do or how NOT to live. I think it is fair to say David learned a great deal from the life of Saul and that encouraged David to apprehend the heart of God even in such excruciating times. However, once David took the throne, married and had children, his lack of being a father began to afflict his very own kingdom. David had many wives but not enough sons. The rebellion, rape, murder, and deceitfulness that took place among his children against their father bears witness to David’s lack in being a father to his sons.
You see, this lack carried over in David’s son Solomon’s lifestyle. Solomon was very rich in wisdom, but poor in lifestyle. He had the most wives, but no raising of sons. And how could he raise any sons to continue in the ministry of the kingdom that God gave, when Solomon himself through serving other strange gods, was not a son himself to the one and only heavenly Father? Solomon had many wives, but not enough sons! The Kingdom after Solomon’s reign then split in two! There was disconnection! The ministry split! No oneness, no peace between the two! Warfare between the Kings of Judah and the Kings of Israel! When the relationship and order of Father and son broke in the ministry of the Kingdom, and causes brothers to engage in conflict with each other, forgetting who gave them the ministry of the Kingdom in the first place!!!
Again I speak as a son, a son that desires to see other sons connected and work in the order Christ ordained for a father and son in the spirit. Too many Pastors in America are too busy marrying many wives, marrying themselves to church members, gathering followers for own pleasure, seeking to expand only their own Kingdom, demanding honor, and etc…
I again want to reiterate there are too many wives in the sense of too many churches THAT does not produce sons. The balance shows that there has been many production in events to attract more and keep people IN the church, rather than raising up sons that would one day step OUT into the world and bringing Salvation to the lost! Son's help bring the ministry of the Kingdom mobile and advanced (by the Gospel that is poured into them) outward! Nothing wrong with television, but again in the spirit of this writing, the media has been used to get people from all over INTO one's own church (which is okay), but neglect the fact of raising sons to one day send out of the church to BE the church and bring Christ to others!
I know of some one who is not living life in Christ. To simply put it, the person is living in sin. It bothers me because this person's father is a minister and so this person grew up in the church all their life. When confronted with the issue of his sinful lifestyle the person said as an excuse "I needed a Father, not just a Pastor". Now I was in no state myself to explain or open the word concerning this heavy issue, but know as I look back and remember that comment, I see so much truth in it today! I thank God for men who obey the voice of the Lord and are married to the church as Pastors, but let's not limit the fruitfulness that God can be doing to just that. Fathers are needed too.
Father’s, true fathers in the faith, they labor in love, labor in patience, labor to see God’s Kingdom advanced in to the life of others, a son especially, who need Father’s in order to carry the baton! I encourage all ministers…instead of seeking to just building a church building, look to build the church within the life of a son! A son that is willing and given by God, to carry the work of a father, the vision and teaching. A son who walks in submission and daily desires to show honor to the father God has ordained over the son’s life! Is this not the relationship of a citizen part of the Kingdom of God? We are not commissioned to build the Kingdom of David in the natural but commissioned to advance the Kingdom of God through the Gospel of Christ, by the His Holy Spirit!
I encourage all of us, as we serve one Heavenly Father, let’s continue as sons and seek to impart Truth into the lives of others! But keep in mind this truth, that there is a difference between the relationship a son ought to have with God and with a spiritual father.
Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
I John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
God Bless
