Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. -Hebrews 10:23-25
We are desperate to see a move of God in this nation!!!
Some preach on fleeing from America due to the monstrosity of its present state, all in the name of prophecy and it seems like generation after generation the complaints and burdens of this nation is broadcast from those who have such fire in their hearts to see righteousness restored to the land! Some may get tired of hearing about it, but the fact is, once the high standard was lifted and once a people met that standard, it is hard to be content with anything less!
Many of us need to be reminded what exactly that standard is! Jesus identified the standard in which we, as His Church ought to be the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14
The fact He makes reference to a city on a hill, speaks of a dwelling, a place, a habitation, the New Jerusalem known as the many membered body called The Church. According to Jesus this Church of His, is set at a higher standard for all to see. The purpose however is not only for people to see, but for The Church set on the high standard to be a light or a FIRE house in the midst of darkness!!!
Psalm 24:3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
David asks the question who shall ASCEND into the hill (standard) of the Lord? The answer…You! Both you and I shall ASCEND!
As Scripture has encouraged all professed Christians to ASCEND to the hill or house of the Lord, why then do we see The Church descending from the standard God has set?
The answer is simple, because the Church has remained only as a SPARK and not an ongoing FIRE set on the hill!
Too many lives just live for the SPARK and not to become more than that!
Now don’t get me wrong, we all need the spark! Without the spark, there is no possibility of becoming a consuming fire as God is a consuming fire. Without the spark, there is no chance to become holy as God is holy!
Like creating a bonfire, you need the spark! However there are many who seem to live just for the spark and not allow the spark or unction of the Holy Ghost to create a FIRE within their life for God!
There are too many Church members forsaking the gathering of fellowships and to many leaders just praying for another spark in their Sunday service instead of being consistent to fan the flame of Holy Ghost vision and expectation for what God will do for a faithful people!!!
People go from church to church, going from spark to spark, meanwhile things are not holding up for their lives, they are NOT living life as MORE than a conqueror. If anything they still seem to be defeated by Satan, still losing their tempers and not yielding to the fiery process/ baptism Jesus came to bring! In other words we all look like a bunch of firecrackers for God instead of a consuming fire as a Church set on high ground!
How to reclaim your fire
Luke 24:13-17 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
Jesus met up with two disciples who were on the path of discouragement. They were NOT walking in the direction of Jerusalem, they were not ASCENDING to Zion’s hill, but they were descending and descending with discouragement! Sometimes it is tough to swim upstream, against the common current when battling with a spirit of discouragement.
Luke 24: 27-32 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he (Jesus) expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
It wasn't until they began to hear the Word about Jesus, the standard they are called to follow, that a spark began in their heart again! However as we read on, they never remained on the same path toward Emmaus, but as Jesus sparked them with The Word, The spark by The Word caused them to turn about face to the right direction and that was to ascending back up to Jerusalem! Jesus commands them to go back to Jerusalem, go back to the standard, back to the high ground and join others who are there!
Luke 24:49-53 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Acts 2:1-3 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
These two once discouraged disciples took their spark and went to Jerusalem joining the gathering of others who had the spark!
Mary and the other women who went to the tomb got their spark when they saw firsthand that Jesus was not there dead, but out and living again! The twelve disciples received a spark when Jesus appeared and encouraging them to see the nail pierced hands!
Now on the day of Pentecost The Church is gathered together and all of their sparks turned into something far greater!!! They all went from a spark to a flame, from a flame to a torch!!!!
A flame came upon each of their heads, but united together each flame became one torch! They became a city set on the hill and the world came to see the light of world ablaze!
John 1:4-9 In him (Jesus) was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Jesus came to light you up!!! The same light at Pentecost, God desires for us to keep on burning!
Every book in the New Testament except for the book of Acts, ends with the word “Amen”. The reason why there is no “Amen” concluding the book of Acts is because God’s desire (by the inspiration of The Holy Ghost) is that the ACTS of the Spirit of God would continue from off the pages of history 2,000 years ago and stay consistently burning ablaze within and throughout our lives!
The book of Acts, was not about the acts of the Apostles, but it was about the acts or ACTIVITY of the Holy Spirit! Once we make it just about the acts of those recorded and not about the acts of The One who is Alive forever more, we are prone to think more that the same fire then is not for now! This is a lie that has been demonstrated visibly through the people of God, all because of the forsaking of gathering together!
Because we have only lived for the spark and not the whole package of God’s Holy Fire, we see people limit their time in prayer, just enough to get a spark, but not enough to douse themselves in God’s holy fire of prayer. We also see relationships come together only by virtue of a spark of love, meanwhile the flame never kept burning and people, especially in the Church end in divorce. We see people being inconsistent with their jobs and all that they put their hand to do, because they only lived for the spark of security and self-will and not the ongoing process of commitment.
It begins in the Church! If the Church is not on fire continuously, then everything else gets dim and even dull!
The fire displayed at Pentecost was strange to onlookers, but what attracted them to it, was not only the demonstration of what seemed to be awkward and weird. Rather what drew them was the fact that they heard The Voice of The Lord spoken to them in their own language! (Acts 2:6)
What God did in Moses’ life at the burning bush, God did again at Pentecost and God desires to do again today, but only if we are willing to RECLAIM our FIRE!
God desires us to be the burning bush in this generation and generations after! We are to be the strange happening on fire, so that God can get people’s attention so that they can hear THE VOICE OF THE LORD crying out from the wilderness through The Church on fire!
Sad to say as many offered STRANGE “Bizarre” FIRE, it has gotten our attention for all the wrong reasons, but God is turning the tide and wanting this modern day burning bush called THE CHURCH to be exposed from behind the cleft of the rock and found upon the solid rock, Jesus Christ, upon which we’re called stand!
I write all this to simply encourage you today to let your spark be a fire and let your fire become a torch! Let it consistently be found lighting the way for yourself and others to see through the darkness and beholding the beauty of Christ!
Let us not settle like old King Saul who had only a few sparks in his life. Times where he experienced God and times where he experienced uplifting times; but let us have the spirit of King David and seek to allow God’s spark, the love for His Word and His dwelling to be continuous and fan the flames of His holy fire in our life!
Psalm 51:10-13 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
God Bless
